Business Development Manager International

PortXL is looking for an International Business Development Manager. PortXL is the world’s first start-up accelerator in maritime, logistics, energy and refinery. Since 2015, we drive innovation for the global maritime industry, starting from Rotterdam and expanding in 2018 to Singapore and Antwerp.

In this position you play a crucial role in PortXL’s success, for the purpose of expanding and strengthening the current team, we are now exclusively recruiting for the role of: International Business Development Manager. You will be the first point of contact and representative for PortXL’s international network of ports, maritime companies, clusters, accelerators and other (public) partners, such as international Dutch embassy networks.

As a Business Development Manager International, you have a natural hunter instinct. You enjoy spotting possibilities in complex markets and opening new doors to business by offering suitable innovation solutions. Growing the international network, management of current relationships and grow the number of PortXL ambassadors abroad.

With your commercial skills you are able to utilize the momentum of progression towards innovation in the maritime industry as key growth driver to develop and close opportunities globally.

You work closely with the PortXL director in setting up and managing all international projects in terms of execution, planning and development. Further you will be attracting new port partners and most importantly, be responsible in ensuring experiences are inspiring, accessible, and empowering for all PortXL stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is creative, strategic, and, above all, knows how to execute flawlessly in areas like organising events, setting up processes, internal and external communication and much more.

Key Tasks

Acquiring international partners:

Develop new business towards International (ports) companies to PortXL with a focus on workshops and local licensed accelerator programs.

Able and comfortable to present and host in front of large groups

You are our ambassador abroad and can communicate easily with executives within corporates and from various cultural backgrounds.

Implement and execute international projects

Planning & organizing projects, managing team and maintain client relationship (client satisfactory and on time on budget). Organizing paid workshops and roll out licensed accelerators programs.

EU project implementation

Act as the first point of contact in EU consortia, responsible for PortXL deliverables in EU subsidy project

Capabilities and attitude

• Entrepreneurial self-starter, with at least 10 years of relevant working experience in public-private partnerships.

• Excellent stakeholder management skills. Ability to connect, sparring partner for start-ups as well as for all levels in corporate companies.

• Experienced project management skills.

• Have an open mind, can-do mentality, healthy ambition, internal drive and passion. • Strong ability to pro-actively pursue new business possibilities combined with the ability to build trust, confidence and relationship with the customer decision makers • Knowledge and network in the Maritime, Logistics & Energy industry is of great advantage. • Capacity to work independently while being a team player. • Fluency in English is required (as the main working language). • Digital savvy: you know how to conduct online sessions and to use our various platforms and channels.
