An interview with Ruben van der Neut, Head of Integration at Mapgage

MapGage addresses the gap between fieldwork and data-driven operations with a mobile and cloud-based software solution that digitalizes fieldwork and generates custom inspection forms compatible with the specific needs of its customers. With the use of MapGage companies can integrate GIS maps, technical drawings, sensor data and field observations into their daily field operations. Tedious paperwork is eliminated, and reporting time is significantly reduced.

Their platform is envisioned with flexibility in mind and can benefit a wide range of industries through easy customization. Geographically distributed field operations benefit from the embedded geo-localisation of all data inputs and visual layers that are accessed through the mobile application. One of the first benefits of using MapGage is the saving of 50% of field operator costs in administration and reporting tasks that follow fieldwork. By using MapGage, companies are also able to generate data from field intelligence that is customized to their needs and dataset configuration requirements. Field data then participates and improves data-driven decisions.

MapGage’s impact is quantifiable by the number of costs and work hours reduced thanks to the digitalization of fieldwork and optimizing the dialogue between the operatives in the field and the office workers. “We see our platform quite flexible, so we can target every industry that has fieldwork and execute audits and asset inspections”. MapGage’s solutions can impact a variety of industries, but currently they have been narrowing it down to construction, municipalities and maritime industry, with encouraging results: MapGage closed a total of three pilot contracts with Boskalis and the Municipality of Rotterdam and recently earned itself contract extensions with both clients.

The MapGage platform is also available in app form for easy use in the field
